Walk to find your favorite brewery among five sake breweries!

For those who love sake and want to partake in Japanese sake culture, a tour of Suwa sake breweries is highly recommended. The five sake breweries known locally as the Five Suwa Breweries - Maihime, Reijin, Honkin, Yokobue, and Masumi - are all located within 500 meters of Suwa's Koshu-kaido Avenue. The secret to the taste of sake lies in the pure water. All five Suwa breweries use subterranean water from the Kirigamine mountains, but each brews sake creating its own unique flavor, with its original technique and style. Each of the five breweries is a rival as well as a partner to each other and has made this town famous for its sake throughout Japan. If you're looking to get tipsy, this is the place to be!
